Blog post # 5

The story of the "White Mountains by John Christopher was a good book although at times was pretty hard to read. There were times where I thought it was confusing, especially when Will was talking about the ancients. It would be great to talk to one of the characters in the book. Will would be the character that I would want to talk to about his life. One question I would like to ask him would be, why was his fathers watch so important to them and why were there so few watches? On page 2 of the book Will says, 'My fathers great treasure though was not the clock but the watch". I can't think of why a watch would be so important. The most important thing in my house would be my dads money not his watch. Another question I would like to ask Will is, what did it feel like to kill a Tripod? I know I would be scared because they were so big. On page 180 Will says, "Its tentacle dropped dead like snake. Our tormentor would not torment us again". I was excited when Will killed the Tripod. I hoped that this would happen but was not sure if Will could do it.

My holiday in dec 2009

In December i went to New Zealand for a holiday for 3 weeks it was awesome we went to the beach a lot. my cousin Jessicas boyfriend took me and friend Ethan motor biking to the Dome. It was awesome i took some cool pictures of Matt doing a jump. He has got a Honda 250cc.

I was glad to see all my old friends, I went biking with them and to the movie to see 2012, their names are Ethan/Tom /Megan/Reily/Damo/Daniel.
I went to my friends house his name is Daniel, we hung at the beach and we camped in his back yard it was awesome.

My family and I went to Goat Island it was a cool experience. The water was very clear and cold, we saw red snapper, blue and neon coloured fish. On the way back we went to the fish and chip shop, they were real good. It was a brilliant day.

I went fishing on my old next door neighbour Karens boat with my dad and uncle Geoff we saw a couple of Dolphins and we caught a lot of snapper they were very big and very tastey.

I had a good time in New Zealand and I did not want to go back to kula lumpur

Blog Reflection

  • I learnt a lot about computers and how to create a blog page All About Me. I now know how to put pictures on my blog and how to change the font size and how to make it look more interesting by changeing the background colour and font
  • My challenge for the past 5 months was to improve my reading skills. I did this by reading every day and by talking through what happened in the last chapter with my mum
  • I want to learn how to improve my writing skills by making it longer and more interesting and using more descriptive words
  • An example of how I contributed positively to the 6th grade community happened at the MS Party when one of my friends was crying because his friend was being mean to him. I stayed with him and talked with him until he was happy. This is the core value of kindness
  • I show my respect by not talking when the teacher is talking
  • My goal for the next 6 months is to always go to my after school activities even if I am tired
  • Another goal is if I am finding my work hard I must ask for help and not give up.

Archie Campbell Name

When my mum was pregnant with me, they knew they were having a boy, my dad used to ring my mum during the day when he had thought of another name. He had been to see one of his clients one day – his name was Archie McNair – dad called mum and said “what about Archie.”

I was born 7 weeks early. My parents had not decided on a name.
My Grand-dad wanted me to be named Lawrence after him.

It took 5 days for them to choose between Henry, Percy or Archie – dad chose.

Archie is a taken from Archibald which means true and bold, valuable.
It is a fairly common name in Scotland. Campbell- means someone who has a crooked mouth.

I would prefer Henry to Percy or Lawrence.

I think Archie is a cool Name

The Best Thing in The World What Has Happened TO Me

In New Zealand my dad and I used to go motor biking in the forest and farms. One day we went to the Waikato and we had lots of experiences motor biking. When we headed off I was going pretty fast and dad was behind me and there was a little hill coming up in front. It wasn’t a huge hill. I fell down the hill and put my hand out. I cried a lot because I thought that I had broke my arm. But it wasn’t broken. My elbow was dislocated and a man came and stopped to help us. He popped my elbow back into place. Dad said I looked very pale but didn’t cry when he did it. He said I was very brave. When he had popped my elbow back in it didn’t hurt anymore. My motorbike broke in the crash. A quad bike came to pick my bike and the ambulance came to get me. They took me to the car park. Then they said I had to go to the hospital and I went. They had to give me an x-ray and I had a cast put on for 6 weeks. Even though I was hurt I still like motor biking and am not afraid of them.
